A Message from IWF Chicago President, Mary Lee Montague

Dear IWF Chicago Friends,

Happy New Year! IWF Chicago is kicking off the new year with the Board of Directors and committee members making plans to make sure 2018 a stellar year for our members!

As a membership driven organization, both locally and internationally, membership is a privilege and commitment. If you have not renewed your membership, please do so ASAP (overdue as of January 10). We are pleased dues remained the same for 2018. Please contact Michelle Fowler in your administrator’s office at info@iwfchicago.org or call 815-806-4908.

The Board of Directors continues to focus on the Strategic Action Plans. Lots of hard work and accomplishments have been made by your committees thus far and we all look forward to these internal changes positively affecting member experience in IWF Chicago.

  • The Program Committee is hosting a quarterly Be YourBest professional development series. The first session is the morning of February 7 at the Union League Club. This will focus on strategies to best take advantage of the global networking tool LinkedIn. Make plans to join us and register online – and we have increased the seats available…lots of interest by all of you!
  • The Membership Committee continues to focus on reviewing prospective member nominations while also working on the membership criteria and nomination process.
  • Membership Committee is also working closely with the Engagement Committee with the goal to better onboard new members and assist with member connections earlier in their membership.
  • Both committees are working closely with the Program Committee to further ensure IWF Chicago members have the opportunity to best network and attend interesting events with current and global topics of interest.   While also ‘together…building bridges.’
  • Our Communication Committee is working diligently to regularly share information with our members. The goal is to keep you informed and engaged with IWF Chicago. This is really important to me at your President … please send me your suggestions and/or comments on how I can best facilitatefurther improving YOUR  membership experience which is also very important to me!
  • Our Nominating Committee has been confirmed and I am pleased to announce Susie Gallagher, Kristen Prinz, Kathleen Carroll, and Ana Dutra will be joining Chair Lynne Nellemann and Sylvia van Loveren. Their mission: To select our 2018-19 Leadership Team. Self-nominations are strongly encouraged…be part of the conversation.

As an IWF Leadership Foundation Board member, I am off to our winter board meeting in Rome the last week of January with fellow Foundation Board member, former IWF Fellow, and IWF Chicago member (and my friend!), Kathleen Carroll. As an IWF Global Board Member Laurel Bellows will also be in Rome as well for their meeting. IWF Chicago is fortunate to have 3 Chicago members as active international board members. Stay tuned for our insights gained at these meetings!

Together...Building Bridges,

Australia Pre and Post Tour Options

Eileen Henderson, member of the Chicago and Australia forums, has graciously done a bit of 'down under' homework on our behalf.

For those that will be arriving a few days prior to the May 2nd conference start, Eileen will be hosting a networking reception in Sydney on April 26.  Eileen has also worked with her local travel expert to draft a few pre and post conference tour options.   Please take a look at the options and let the travel agent know if you may be interested in any of these tour options.  Once we get a pulse for the interest in options, the agent will move forward with making travel plans.
