President's Update

A Message from IWF Chicago President, Ana Dutra

Dear IWF Friends:

September brought us the official start of the Fall season and October introduces us to the changing of the leadership for IWF Chicago. I have had the honor and privilege of serving as the Vice President of IWF Chicago from 2013 through 2015 and the President of our organization since October 2015. I thank you all for the great four years and it is certainly time to pass the baton. The IWF Chicago Forum has much to be proud of. We have hosted many world class events including an interactive painting party, many Meet & Greets, the 3rd annual dinner featuring Jennifer Holmgrean PhD, CEO of LanzaTech, Dine Arounds at fabulous member homes, joint events with C200 and TCN, a Fall mixer and, of course, our annual meetings and holiday celebrations. We have had many opportunities to network and share our common interests as members of The International Women’s Forum.

The prominent event during my tenure of President was having Chicago as the host of the World Leadership Conference in September 2016. This was quite a feat and it certainly took a wonderful village of co-chairs to make it happen.   Thank you to every member, colleague, and friend that helped make the conference an overwhelming success. IWF Chicago welcomed 850 members from over 45 countries!  The 2016 World Leadership Conference Committee was the most amazing group of women who certainly set the bar high for future IWF world conferences.

Finally, under the strong leadership of the Membership Committee we added 63 new members between October 2015 and October 2017. Total membership is now strong at 212 and keeps growing.

We have so much to celebrate and yet we have a lot of planning for the coming year. I look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 10th.   Registration is still open – visit the online event page. The Nominating Committee will share with you the slate of officer and directors for 2018. Please join us in this event. The IWF Chicago Board of Directors has worked diligently this past year to define and redefine our mission, our values, and our goals.   The incoming Board looks forward to sharing the action plan with you and getting all members involved, engaged, and excited about IWF Chicago.   We also have the 4th Annual Women Who Make A Difference Dinner on November 6th.   Please purchase a table or tickets so that we can fill the room with amazing women that make a difference in our world.

Thank you to my wonderful Board and Committee Co-Chairs for being amazing partners and for trusting me to be your President the past two years. I will remain on the Executive Committee of IWF Chicago in the role of Immediate Past President. I look forward to being a part of the exciting future of IWF Chicago.

With gratitude,
   Ana

The International Women's Forum and Leadership Foundation Announces 2017-2018 Fellows Class

Rising women leaders from around the world to take part in a year-long leadership training program managed in partnership with Harvard Business School and INSEAD.

The International Women's Forum & Leadership Foundation (IWF/LF) announced 36 rising women leaders to participate in their 2017-2018 Fellows Program.  IWF Chicago members Mary Lee Montague and Kathleen Carroll are board members of the IWF Leadership Foundation.

Each year, the IWF Leadership Foundation selects a geographically, culturally, ethnically, and professionally diverse group of women leaders. The 2017-2018 Fellows Class includes participants from the corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors across 14 nations. For the first time in the program's 23-year history, Bermuda, Ecuador, and Turkey have fellows participating. View the complete class here.

About the Fellows Program
The Fellows Program launched as the flagship initiative of the Leadership Foundation in 1994 with seed funding from the U.S. Labor Department as a direct result of the Glass Ceiling Commission (1991-1995) targeting women aspiring to top levels of leadership.
