    Women of “Aquí en Chicago”

    Presented in partnership with the International Women’s Forum, the Guild of the Chicago History Museum invites you to an exclusive behind-the-scenes evening in celebration of Women’s History Month.

    Did you know that nearly one-third of Chicago’s residents are Latino/a/e? Come explore the rich history and impact of this vibrant community through the Chicago History Museum’s newest exhibition, Aquí en Chicago.

    After a self-guided walk through the gallery, join us for a program with CHM curator of civic engagement and social justice Elena Gonzales sharing stories of the remarkable women featured in Aquí en Chicago. The evening concludes with a reception.

    Dr. Elena Gonzales is Curator of Civic Engagement & Social Justice at the Chicago History Museum. Her book Exhibitions for Social Justice (2019) was published in Routledge’s Museum Meanings Series. She is a contributing author of Seize the Moment: How Museums Can Prepare for the Post-Pandemic Age (Rowman & Littlefield and the American Association for State and Local History, 2022). Gonzales has curated exhibitions since 2006 and taught curatorial studies since 2010.

      IWF Chicago's Philanthropy Committee is thrilled to partner with Nourishing Hope for a hands-on volunteer event on Wednesday, April 29th from 5:30–7:30 PM at their headquarters, where we will come together to pack hygiene kits for neighbors in need across Chicago. This is a fun, feel-good opportunity to make a real impact in just two hours, plus we’ll enjoy wine and cheese while we work! With Nourishing Hope CEO Mitzi D. Baum and Kayla Carter, Director of Institutional Partnerships at Nourishing Hope joining us for a brief information session, you’ll get to see firsthand how these kits support families experiencing food insecurity and housing instability.

      Spots are limited to 25 participants, so don’t miss the chance to roll up your sleeves, connect with colleagues, and leave knowing you helped make life a little easier for so many people.
